Writing about real people
Bella led a fascinating discussion about using real names in our story, or real people, or writing about real people. Some of the books mentioned were Slingshot by Stuart Jackman, Unsheltered by Barbara Kingsolver, English Passengers by Matthew Kneale, Daughters of Cornwall by Fern Britton and Puck’s Song by Rudyard Kipling. The Teletubbies also got an honourable mention!
Next time
The theme of our next meeting, on Friday November 6th, will be food. You can write something food-related – a poem, story or feature – or read out something food-related, or talk about a book you enjoyed which has a food theme. Is it easy to write about people eating? What role do meals play in story development? Jim will be leading our discussion.
