David G Bailey – The Sunny Side of the House
David G Bailey has published four books, debuting in 2021 with Seventeen, a football fantasy adventure novel aimed at and beyond young adults. Them Roper Girls (2022) returned to a world more recognisably our own, tracing in their own voices the lives of four sisters from their 1950s childhood. Them Feltwell Boys (2023) follows the husband of a Roper girl’s crude attempts at teenage love in counterpoint to his cynical womanising as an adult. The Sunny Side of the House (2024) was a first venture into non-fiction in another projected series, When Life Gives You Strawberries – Memories of a Fenland Boy, a clear-eyed narrative of growing up in the 1960s in East Anglia. To read more of and about David’s work, including the opening extracts from each of those mentioned above, a quarterly newsletter and new content daily comprising extracts from diaries and other writings, visit his website www.davidgbailey.com.

Suzy Edney – Capulet Close
Susan McCranor, writing as Suzy Edney is a retired teacher, an avid reader and has always loved to write. She used to write stories for her children when they were small and has always enjoyed writing rhymes and poems for family and friends to celebrate special occasions. Susan joined The Rugby Café Writer’s last year which inspired her to blow the dust from the pages of her stories and turn them into a novel, Capulet Close. If you like reading but don’t have the time to read a novel visit www.suzyedney.com and read a new short story every week.

Philip Gregge – Denua Warrior Queen
Philip Gregge trained as an optometrist at Aston University, and served the people of Rugby for over 40 years. Early in his career, he took a three-year break to study theology and later became part of the leadership team of a charismatic church in Rugby. He has a website answering theological questions and is regularly asked to speak and teach.

Philip has always been interested in music; at school he was part of a choir which competed in festivals. He plays several instruments and has been involved in the folk scene. He is married to Anji, a rock and an inspiration to him.

Philip had to go into hospital for a spinal operation in 2013. He awoke after the anaesthetic with the germ of a story about the early Medieval times, an age that had fascinated him since his primary school headmistress taught him about the Angles and Saxons.

Madalyn Morgan – Foxden Acres
Madalyn Morgan was brought up in Lutterworth, where she has returned after living in London for thirty-six years. She had a hairdressing salon in Rugby before going to Drama College. Madalyn was an actress for thirty years, performing on television, in the West End and in Repertory Theatre. She has been a radio journalist and a classic rock DJ on radio. She has written articles for music magazines, women’s magazines and newspapers. She now writes poems, short stories and novels. She has written ten novels – a wartime saga and a post war series. She is currently writing her memoir and a novel.

Lindsay Woodward – The Cat’s Eyes
Lindsay Woodward specialises in writing love stories with a twist. Her novels are infused with intrigue that captivate readers who crave more than the typical romance. Her latest novel, The Cat’s Eyes, is Lindsay’s darkest novel to date, where romance meets a splash of evil.

She lives in Rugby with her husband and lovely cat. Her passion for writing started early, fuelled by childhood stories about the Fraggles from Fraggle Rock. With writing always at the forefront of her dreams, she pursued a degree in it, turning her favourite pastime into a fulfilling career.

When she’s not penning her latest tales, Lindsay runs a marketing agency based in Warwickshire, skilfully balancing her dual passions. Her dedication to her craft and her ability to intertwine her professional expertise with her writing make her a growing figure in the local literary scene.

There will be copies of the author’s books for sale at the event.
